De paseo con Baco y Abel Tasman! / Bei Bacchus und Abel Tasman zu Besuch!

 

Despues de las peripecias en el mar nos esperaba algo aun mas emocionante, aventurarse por las tierras del vino! Renwick, cerca de Blenheim, al norte de la isla sur, es una region conocida por su produccion de vinos de gran calidad, concentrada en una zona no muy amplia y de pequeñas bodegas. La zona, conocida como Malborough Sounds, produce vino blanco desde mediados de la decada de 1970, del que es especialmente apreciado su Sauvignon Blanc y, en cuanto a los tintos, tienen un excelente Pinot Noir. Queriamos hacer un tour en alguna de las zonas que producen vino en Nueva Zelanda para probar la produccion local, y escogimos esta porque ademas de que el recorrido esta muy bien organizado, la cercania de las bodegas permite hacer la excursion en bicicleta, lo cual es mucho mas divertido. Asi que alquilamos las bicis en nuestro hostal, que vienen con alforjas para las botellas como se puede ver en la foto, y pasamos una soleada mañana de bodega en bodega, cada vez mas contentos y con las alforjas cada vez mas llenas, hasta terminar almorzando a mediodia en el restaurante de una de ellas. Las bodegas son pequeñas en general, asi que su produccion esta muy cuidada y eso nos permitio descubrir unos vinos fantasticos, esto unido a que son generosas y permiten probar todas sus gamas sin limitaciones! En la foto tengo la primera botella que cayo en nuestras alforjas, un Chardonnay de la casa Nautilus / Nach unseren Abenteuern im Meer, wartete ein neues Abenteuer an Land auf uns: die Weingegenden Neuseelands zu erkunden! Renwick in der Naehe von Blenheim im Norden der Suedinsel ist mit eine der bekanntesten Weinanbaugebiete Neuseelands. Hier in den Marlborough Sounds werden seit Mitte der 70er hauptsaechlich Weissweine angebaut, besonders bekannt ist es fuer Sauvignon Blanc und Pinot Noir bei den Rotweinen. Wir wollten unbedingt in einem Gebiet neuseelaendische Weine probieren. Hier in Renwick ist es super organisiert, indem man einfach ein Fahrrad mit Ladetaschen mieten kann. So radelten wir mit jedem Besuch froehlicher von einem Weingut zum naechsten und fuellten nach und nach alle Taschen. Die Weine schmeckten fantastisch und die Weingueter lassen einen grosszuegig von allen Weinen probieren. Hier haelt Ricardo die erste Flasche in der Hand, die in unsere Taschen wanderte, einen Chardonnay von Nautilus / After our adventures on the sea, something even more exciting was still waiting for us. Renwick near Blenheim in the North of the South Island is one of the famous winery region of New Zealand. Here in the Marlborough Sounds they grow mainly white wine since the middle of the 70ies and are especially famous for the Sauvignon Blanc and for Pinot Noir at the red wines. We absolutely wanted to visit one wine region to try local wines. Here in Renwick it is very good organized: you can easily rent a bike with bags for the wines. That way we cycled with every visit a bit happier from one winery to the other and bit by bit filled our bags. The wines tasted fantastic and the wineries let you generously try all their wines. Here Ricardo holds our first bottle of wine, a Chardonnay from Nautilus.

 

La zona es muy bonita, con suaves ondulaciones y las vides por todo el terreno. Esta era la vista del restaurante Veranda, dentro de la bodega Domaine Georges Michel, donde almorzamos. Saben por que muchas veces hay un rosal en el extremo de la linea de parras? Porque si alguna plaga ataca el cultivo, empieza por el rosal, asi que este sirve de indicador antes de que el problema se extienda a la vid / Die Gegend ist einfach wunderschoen. Dies war der Blick vom Restaurant Veranda, wo wir zu Mittag assen. Wisst ihr warum in Weinbergen in der Regel ein Rosenstock vor den Weinreben waechst? Der Grund ist, dass die Rosenstoecke zuerst von Ungeziefer angegriffen werden und damit dem Weinanbauer anzeigen, wann die Trauben bedroht sind / The area is absolutely beautiful. This was the view from the restaurant Veranda, where we had lunch. Do you know why in vineyards they usually grow a rose plant next to the wine plants? The reason is that the rose plant gets attacked first by parasites and is an indicator for the wine grower about the menaces for the grapes.

 

Y de Renwick seguimos rumbo al norte. En Nelson nos encontramos con Francis, un neozelandes que habiamos conocido meses atras en Ha Long Bay (Vietnam), y con el que habiamos quedado de vernos alli, que es la ciudad donde vive desde hace unos años. Pasamos una noche muy divertida en su pub favorito, The Smugglers, un lugar agradable. Cuando lo conocimos en Vietnam quedamos una noche para hablar de su pais, y fue buenisimo porque repasamos el recorrido que teniamos en mente y el nos iba haciendo recomendaciones que resultaron muy valiosas, ya que conoce su pais a fondo. Gracias de nuevo Francis por todas las recomendaciones! / Francis lernten wir in Vietnam in der Halong Bay einige Monate davor kennen und trafen ihn dann in seiner Heimatstadt Nelson wieder. Wir verbrachten einen sehr netten Abend in seinem Lieblingspub „The Smugglers“. Er hatte uns schon in Vietnam wertvolle Reisetips fuer Neuseeland gegeben. Aber er kennt nicht nur Neuseeland sondern auch den Rest der Welt nach vielen langen Reisen sehr gut / We met Francis in Vietnam in the Halong Bay many months before and met him then in his hometown Nelson again. There we had a nice evening together at his favorite pub „The Smugglers“. Already in Vietnam he gave us many valuable travel recommendations for New Zealand. But he doesn’t only know his country very well. He also travelled extensively through the rest of the world. Thanks again Francis for your recommendations, which made our trip to New Zealand even more special!

 

Desde Nelson hicimos una excursion de un dia al famoso Parque nacional Abel Tasman. Como no teniamos tiempo de hacer un recorrido de varios dias, optamos por escoger uno de los mejores sectores del Camino costero Abel Tasman y recorrerlo completo. Para eso tomamos un “water taxi” como el de la imagen en Marahau que nos llevo hasta Tonga Beach, desde donde caminamos durante cuatro horas y media hasta Torrent Bay, donde otro water taxi nos llevaria de regreso a Marahau / Von Nelson aus machten wir einen Tagesausflug in den beruehmten Abel Tasman National Park. Da wir nicht so viel Zeit zur Verfuegung hatten, um dort mehrere Tage am Stueck zu wandern, wollten wir ein besonders schoenes Stueck des Abel Tasman Coastal Tracks laufen. Mit diesem Wassertaxi fuhren wir von Marahau aus zur Tonga Beach, von wo aus wir 4,5 Stunden bis zur Torrent Bay liefen und dort wieder per Wassertaxi zum Anfangspunkt zurueckfuhren. / Fromout Nelson we made a day excursion to the famous Abel Tasman National Park. As we didn’t have that much time, to walk several days in a row, we wanted to pick out a very nice part of the Abel Tasman Coastal Track and walk only this part. With this water taxi we went from the village of Marahau to Tonga Beach, from where we walked four and a half hours until Torrent Bay, where another water taxi picked us up and brang us back to Marahau.

 

El Parque Abel Tasman es conocido por su maravilloso paisaje costero, donde el mar entra y sale a manera de pequeñas calas o de extensas playas, o donde la linea de costa se eleva y forma acantilados, y desciende de nuevo y regala una hermosa bahia escondida. Pero el camino ademas de bordear la costa y ofrecer estas vistas, tiene tambien una vegetacion exuberante, donde las distintas variedades de helecho son el protagonista principal. En la foto se puede ver un par de kayaks, que es otra manera de conocer el parque, remando de playa en playa, sobre todo en verano / Der Park Abel Tasman ist fuer seine wunderschoene Kuestenlandschaft bekannt, mit kleinen Buchten, langen Straenden und sich die Kuestenlinie hebt und senkt, womit hin und wieder grosse Klippen entstehen. Der Weg hat nicht nur tolle Aussichten, sondern auch eine dichte Vegetation, wo die verschiedenen Farnarten die Hauptrolle spielen. Viele besuchen den Park auch in Kayak. Weniger Monate spaeter waere es richtig Sommer gewesen und man kann an den vielen Straenden baden / The Abel Tasman National Park is known for its marvelous coastal landscape, where the sea forms small bays, long stretches of beaches and the coastal line alternates up and down forming big cliffs. The track leads you along great lookouts, beaches and through a lush vegetation, with all sorts of ferns. Many also visit the park in Kayak. A few months later it would have been totally summer and you can lay on any of the many beaches and swim in the water.

 

 

Las diferencias entre marea alta y baja son muy marcadas, asi que en marea baja aparecen enormes extensiones de arena como en la imagen / Oft bilden sich bei Ebbe Landzungen und man kann Abkuerzungen ueber diese nehmen / Often with low tide sand banks appear and you can take short cuts across them.

 

Y despues de la visita al Abel Tasman llego la hora de abandonar la isla sur, no sin algo de tristeza, para trasladarnos a la isla norte y continuar recorriendo el pais en nuestra nave plateada. En la imagen el ferry que nos trasladaria arriba a Picton, que es el puerto donde lo abordariamos para hacer la travesia entre las dos islas. Al salir de Picton, el ferry atraviesa los Malborough Sounds antes de llegar a mar abierto, y ese esplendido paisaje de fiordos salpicados de islas nos hizo recordar el bonito archipielago que se atraviesa al dejar Estocolmo rumbo a Helsinki / Hier kommt unsere Faehre in Picton an, mit der wir mit unserem Auto von der Sued- auf die Nordinsel uebersetzen werden. Zuerst geht die Fahrt durch die schoenen Marlborough Sounds bei Picton bevor wir in die offene See schippern. Dieser Teil erinnerte mich sehr an die Schaeren nahe Stockholm, wenn man mit der Faehre nach Helsinki uebersetzt. Auf der Nordinsel kamen wir in Wellington an / Here our ferry reaches Picton, from where we crossed together with the car from the South to the North Island arriving at Wellington. Near Picton the boat journey goes first through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds before entering the open sea, that reminded me a lot of the archipel near Stockholm when crossing to Helsinki.
