Und das war auch die einzige shopping mall, die wir in Laos gesehen haben / But it is hot! And this was the only shopping mall we saw in Laos

Ein Beispiel fuer den Humor der Laoten / An example of the humor of Lao people

And this is the building they are talking about

A special way of decorating your house...

This monument Pha That Luang is supposed to be „the nations biggest monument”, but we were a bit deceived when we stood in front of it

The beautiful temple Wat Si Saket is the oldest surviving temple in Vientiane. Inside of the temple the walls are covered with small golden buddhas in niches and above of them beautiful murals

Also in the cloister around the ordination hall are small buddhas in niches and big buddha sculptures in different positions

These buddhas almost survived the lao-siamese wars in 1828

On the way by bus to the Xieng Khuan Buddha Park we came across this truck

Alles sehr skurril / A yogi priest called Luang Pu built this bizarre park in 1958. As in his faith he merges buddhist and hinduist features, he also built figures from both religions and in enormous proportions

Here I kneel in the entrance of a pumpkin like building of three storeys full of cobwebs and many more sculptures, inside which you can climb up to the top roof and have a view on the sculptures

This buddha stands in front of the entrance of the Haw Pha Kaew, that is now a museum and housed before the famous Emerald Buddha, which is now to be seen in Bangkok
