Halong Bay y Catba Island

Para visitar la bahia de Ha Long escogimos la opcion de pasar una noche en el barco y una noche en la isla de Cat Ba (que es la unica grande de las 1969 islas que componen el archipielago de Ha Long -los vietnamitas no olvidan ese numero porque es el año en que murio Ho Chi Minh), y asi gozamos de dos noches y tres dias de paseo por el mar.
Y con esta excursion cerramos el periplo vietnamita. Al dia siguiente de nuestro regreso a Hanoi Helga y Gudrun tomaron su avion de vuelta, y nosotros pasamos un dia mas en Hanoi y luego tomamos el avion a Luang Prabang, nuestro primer destino en Laos, pais sobre el que versaran las proximas entradas y del que podemos anticipar que es uno de los que mas nos han gustado hasta ahora!

Um die beruehmte Halongbucht zu besuchen, waehlten wir die Version mit einer Nacht auf dem Boot in der Bucht und eine Nacht auf der Cat Ba Insel, die groesste Insel des Archipels der Halongbucht, dass aus insgesamt 1969 kleinen Inseln aus zerkfluefteten Karstfelsen besteht, voller Hoehlen und Buchten. Die Vietnamesen merken sich die Anzahl der Inseln einfach, da es dem Todesjahr von Ho Chi Minh entspricht.
Und mit diesem Ausflug beendeten wir unsere Reise in Vietnam. Am Tag nach unserer Rueckkehr nach Hanoi flogen Helga und Gudrun zurueck nach Deutschland und wir am Tag darauf nach Luang Prabang, unser erstes Ziel in Laos, worueber wir in unseren naechsten Eintraegen schwaermen werden. Denn soviel schon vorne weg, Laos ist eins der Laender, die uns bisher am besten gefallen haben!

Ricardo feliz con el comienzo de la excursion en la parte superior del barco y la camara colgada del cuello como siempre. Al fondo se empiezan a ver las primeras islas del archipielago de Ha Long / Ricardo, hier auf dem Sonnendeck unseres Boots, ist absolut gluecklich mit dem Beginn des Ausflugs, wie immer den Fotoapparat umgehaengt. Im Hintergrund sieht man schon die ersten Spitzen der Halong Bucht / Ricardo is totally happy with the start of the excursion, here on the sundeck of the boat, and of course with the camera around the neck as always. Approaching the Halong Bay you can already see the first peaks in the back.



Esta es la vista de algunas islas que teniamos al comienzo de la navegacion. Las fotos no reflejan esa sensacion unica de estar alli en medio de esas moles que sobresalen del agua en todas las direcciones, mientras el barco merodea lentamente entre unas y otras / Das waren ein paar der ersten Inseln, zwischen denen wir entlang getuckert sind. Auch wenn man schon viele Bilder gesehen hat, ist es doch ein besonderes Gefuehl zwischen all den Inseln entlang zu gleiten und gar kein Ende zu sehen. Allerdings sieht man auch ueberall Boote, die andere Touristen herumschippern / These were some of the first islands between the ones we cruised along. Although you already saw many pictures of the bay, it is a special feeling to be right in the middle, see no end to small islands, where ever you look. But you also see boats everywhere that are carrying other tourists...



La primera parada fue para visitar la cueva Sung Sot, la “cueva de las sorpresas”, una de las mas grandes de las numerosas cuevas que hay en las islas de Ha Long. Se compone de varios recintos enormes como el de la imagen, adornados con estalactitas y estalagmitas que estan iluminadas de forma misteriosa / Eine der groessten der vielen Hoehlen im Inselarchipel ist die Hoehle der Ueberraschungen, Sung Sot Cave, die aus mehreren riesigen Hallen besteht, wie die hier im Bild, voll von Stalakmiten und Stalaktiten in allen Formen, die mystisch beleuchtet sind / One of the biggest of the many caves in Halong Bay is this one, called cave of the surprises. It consists of various enormous halls like the one in the picture and full of stalaktites and stalakmites, that are illuminated in a mysterious way



En esta imagen se puede ver la especial configuracion del techo de la cueva. Es la huella que dejo el mar en tiempos antiguos, cuando las olas castigaban lo que hoy es el techo de la cueva / Dieses Bild ist aus der gleichen Hoehle. Hier erkennt man das speziell ausgehoehlte Dach links im Hintergrund gut, dessen Form sich dadurch ergeben hat, dass frueher das Wasser bis an die Decke reichte und durch die Wellen die Decke so geformt hat / In the same cave can you see on the left in the back the special form of the top of the cave. In former times the water reached until the top and the waves of the water created these special forms

Cat Ba Island tiene una zona de parque natural marino y terrestre, asi que visitamos un mirador en la parte terrestre del parque. Fue una caminata de varias horas entre el bosque, muy dura por la empinada parte final, pero que valio mucho la pena por la vista de 360 grados que se tenia desde el mirador. Silke no subio al mirador por su miedo a las alturas, pero aun asi tuvo una crisis al comenzar el descenso dada la dificultad del camino, con rocas resbalosas y escaleras empinadas que se asomaban al abismo. Las rodillas no le respondian y tuvo que hacer un gran esfuerzo para reponerse y conseguir llegar abajo / Auf der Insel Cat Ba wanderten wir mit unserer Gruppe durch einen Naturpark und kletterten einen abenteuerlichen und anstrengenden Weg ueber Felsen hoch auf einen Berg, wo ein Aussichtsturm einen 360Grad Blick auf die unzaehlbaren gruenen Gipfel rund herum gewaehrt. Der Blick war wirklich lohnend. Aber beim Heruntersteigen bekam ich eine grosse Krise, da die Hoehenangst meine Knie weich werden liess, als es auf dem Gipfel auf rutschigen Leitern ueber Abgruende und Loecher ging und dann glitschige Felsen wieder runter, wo ein Abrutscher ueble Folgen haette. Aber irgendwie kam ich unten an und hatte danach einen Muskelkater, als waere ich einen Marathon gelaufen. Helga und Gudrun kehrten zum Glueck auf halbem Weg um, bevor wir zu klettern anfingen. / On the island Cat Ba we hiked with our group through a natural park and then up a hill. The last bit was a challenging climb but the view all around on the green peeks of the island was definitely worth it. Unfortunately though I had quite a crisis of vertigo by climbing down because of taking wet ladders and climbing on slippy rocks down next to the abyss, when the knees are just turned into pudding and don't respond. After that walk my legs ached like I had done a marathon!



Asi eran las escaleras para acceder a la terraza del mirador, que se elevaba unos 15 m sobre el suelo. Solo podian ir arriba cinco personas a la vez, y maximo una por cada tramo de escalera / Auf solchen Stufen ging es 15m in die Hoehe auf den Aussichtsturm, wo ich natuerlich nicht hochgegangen bin... es konnten maximal 5 Personen auf den Turm und nur 1 Person pro Treppe... / These were the steps of the 15m high view tower. Of course I did not climb up! Maximum 5 persons at a time could climb it and only one person per ladder.



Fuimos en kayak a Monkey Island, donde nos bañamos en una playa solitaria y bastante virgen. Era la primera vez que ibamos los dos en un kayak para una distancia tan larga en mar abierto (unas dos horas ida y regreso), con olas de mas de 1 m. Fuimos con Francis, un neozelandes que conocimos en el barco y que nos envio esta foto porque nosotros no llevamos camara (gracias Francis por enviarla!) / Wir beide und Francis aus Neuseeland zusammen mit einem Fuehrer machten eine Kayaktour zur monkey island, wo wir an diesem schoenen Strand badeten. Das war unser erstes Mal Kayak und machte echt Spass. Nach anfaenglichen Koordinierungsproblemen kamen wir ganz gut voran. Noch dazu das unser erstes Mal von 1,5m hohen Wellen begleitet war. / The two of us and Francis, a very nice guy from New Zealand, together with a guide went on a kayak tour to Monkey island, where we bathed at this beautiful solitary beach. Thanks very much, Francis, for the picture! For us it was our first kayak tour and we liked it indeed. After a little bit of coordination problems in the beginning we got a bit better. And this with coping in our first time with 1,5m high waves!



Vista al anochecer de un largo pasadizo colgado de las rocas que conectaba la playa principal de Cat Ba Island con una mas pequeña y tranquila / In Cat Ba Island kann man vom Hauptstrand ueber diesen Felsenrundweg zu einem wunderschoenen und weniger besuchten Strand gelangen. Allerdings wurde es schon etwas dunkel... / In Cat Ba Island we walked over this gangway from the main beach to a beautiful and quieter beach. Unfortunately though it was already getting dark.
