Entre cordooobeses y porteeños / Zwischen Cordoba und Buenos Aires

 

El feliz momento en que nos encontramos con Isabelle en Cordoba, adonde llegamos procedentes de San Juan. Estuvimos una semana en su casa, celebrando su cumpleaños y luego el año nuevo, y hubo tiempo para charlar, ver a los amigos y sentirnos en casa. Silke conocio a Isabelle hace una decada en la editorial Springer, su primer lugar de trabajo en Barcelona, y poco tiempo despues compartio piso con ella y su hijo Theo durante ocho meses en 2000, antes de que ellos regresaran a Cordoba. De hecho es el mismo piso en el que nosotros vivimos hoy en dia en BCN! / Die Wiedersehensfreude war gross, als wir bei Isabelle in Cordoba ankamen. Sechs Tage blieben wir dort, feierten ihren Geburtstag mit und kurze Zeit spaeter Sylvester. Somit hatten wir viel Zeit zum Quatschen, ihre Freunde dort wiederzusehen und uns wie zu Hause zu fuehlen. Isabelle kenne ich von meinem ersten job in Barcelona bei Springer. Anschliessend wohnte ich mit ihr und ihrem Sohn Theo acht Monate in 2000 zusammen, bevor sie nach Cordoba zurueckkehrten. / The moment full of joy, when we arrived at Isabelle’s house in Cordoba and met again. We stayed six days there, celebrated her birthday, a bit later new year and had plenty of time to talk, meet her friends there again and feel at home. I met Isabelle during my first job in Barcelona at Springer. Later I shared flat with her and her son Theo eight months in 2000, before they returned to Cordoba.

 

Empezamos la celebracion del cumple de Isabelle con un almuerzo en compañia de su hijo Theo y su compañero Ricardo. Theo ha crecido tanto desde la ultima vez que lo vimos (cuatro años atras) que casi no lo reconociamos. La celebracion continuo por la noche en casa de Isabelle con sus amigos / Geburtstagsessen in kleiner Runde mit Theo und Isabelles Freund Ricardo. Theo ist bereits so in die Hoehe geschossen seit wir ihn das letzte Mal vor vier Jahren sahen, dass ich ihn fast nicht wieder erkannte. Die Geburtstagsparty mit allen Freunden folgte am Abend / Birthday lunch in a small round with Theo and Isabelles partner Ricardo. Theo has grown up so much since we saw him the last time four years before, that I almost didn’t recognize him. The birthday party followed with all friends in the evening.

 

Fuimos con Isabelle y Ricardo de paseo a un camping, que esta junto a un rio y en el que disfrutamos, como no, de un delicioso asado. Otra simpatica actividad de ese dia fue bañarse en el rio a pesar de que tenia poco caudal en esa epoca del año / Wir machten einen Ausflug zu einem Camping am Ufer eines Flusses, wo wir, wie sollte es anders sein, fantastisch grillten. Ausserdem konnte man auch im Fluss baden, wenn er auch gerade wenig Wasser fuehrte / We made an excursion to a camping site next to a river, where we savoured a delicious barbecue. Moreover you could also bath in the river, although with only a little of water at that time of the year.

 

Tambien estuvimos en Villa Belgrano, una pequeña ciudad cerca de Cordoba, habitada orginalmente por colonos alemanes, y que hoy es un divertido pastiche de estampas germanicas, donde se puede conseguir por supuesto muy buena cerveza y comida alemana. Es un lugar muy visitado por turistas argentinos, y claro, nosotros nos vestimos como tocaba... / Villa Belgrano ist ein kleines Staedtchen in der Naehe von Cordoba, was von deutschen Siedlern bewohnt wird und mit seinen typisch deutschen Sitten und sueddeutscher Architektur sowie dem kulinarischen Angebot zu einem beliebten Tourismusziel der Argentinier wurde. Die Spaetzle waren auch wirklich ganz lecker. Hier haben wir uns dementsprechend gekleidet ... / Villa Belgrano is a small city near Cordoba, inhabited originally by German colonists, still cultivates its German habits, architecture and culinary offer. It became a popular tourist spot for Argentinians. Although the “Spaetzle” we ate were really delicious. Also we dressed acordingly...

 

Curiosa escultura en Cordoba! Es un divertido trampantojo... / Ein Skulptur in Cordoba, die uns faszinierte. Man muss zweimal hingucken! / A sculpture in Cordoba, that fascinated us. You have to look twice!

 

No es que por fin hayamos encontrado el camino despues de tanto viajar! De hecho, seis meses despues de haber regresado a Barcelona, seguimos buscando nuestra ruta... Pero este trayecto entre Cordoba y Buenos Aires ha sido uno de los mas frikis que hemos hecho en todo el viaje (tal vez solo le gana el bus Los Angeles-San Francisco que contaremos dentro de unos cuantos meses). El dueño de esta compaña, Betel, es evangelico, y se toma muy a pecho su mision de evangelizar. En cada silla descansa un ejemplar de la Biblia y una copia del sermon del dia, que es leido por la azafata del bus al comienzo y al final del recorrido. Alucinante! Eso si, tuvimos vino con la cena, faltaba mas! / Wenn ihr irgendwann eine wirklich freakige Busfahrt erleben wollt, dann nehmt in Argentinien den Bus der empfohlenen Buslinie Betel! Mit ihnen fuhren wir ueber Nacht nach Buenos Aires, wo uns eine Bibel auf unserem Sitz erwartete und wir vor dem Essen und beim Aufwachen eine Predigt hoerten! Dafuer aber servieren sie Wein zum Abendessen / If you want to live a really freaky bus journey, then you have to take a bus from the company Betel! We drove with them overnight to Buenos Aires, where a bible expected us on our seat and we heard a sermon before dinner and when waking up! But then they served wine for dinner.

En Buenos Aires nos quedamos primero en San Telmo y luego en Palermo, ya que no fue posible encontrar alojamiento en el mismo lugar para toda la semana. La imagen muestra las coquetas casas de Palermo, un simpatico barrio que infortunadamente se esta sobresaturando de turismo y tiendas “de diseño” / In Buenos Aires wohnten wir zuerst in San Telmo und spaeter am Rand vom Viertel Palermo, hier im Bild zu sehen, wo einen so schoene Ecken wie diese erwarten. Auch viele schoene Geschaefte... Mittlerweile ist es allerdings kein Geheimtip mehr / In Buenos Aires we lived first in San Telmo and later on the border to the quarter Palermo, here to be seen in the picture and where you will find such nice corners as this one. Also many nice shopping opportunities... But Palermo has become anything else than a secret recommendation.

 

Quedamos una noche con Gabi (a la izquierda) y Mariana, compañeras de un curso de posgrado que hice en Barcelona. Gabi y su novio Matias son de Buenos Aires, mientras que Mariana (mexicana) estaba de visita por las fiestas navideñas. Perdimos la cuenta de las jarras de cerveza que pasaron por esa mesa... / Einen Abend in Buenos Aires trafen wir uns mit Gabi (links) und Mariana (rechts), mit denen Ricardo einen master in Barcelona studiert hat. Gabi y su novio Matias, a la izquierda de ella, son de Buenos Aires y Mariana estaba tambien de vacaciones alli desde Mexico City. Am Ende wusste keiner mehr, wieviele Bierkruege wir geleert hatten / A night in Buenos Aires we met Gabi (on the left) and Mariana (on the right), who studied a master together with Ricardo in Barcelona a few years earlier. Gabi and her boyfriend Matias, left to her, are from Buenos Aires, meanwhile Mariana was also on visit in the city fromout Mexico City. At the end of the night, no one of us remembered how many beer jars we had emptied in total.

 

Un domingo hicimos la visita obligada al pintoresco mercado de pulgas de la plaza Dorrego en San Telmo. A pesar de la gran cantidad de gente, era un gusto pasear entre los distintos puestos, curiosear, regatear, y antojarse de objetos imposibles de llevar en un viaje como el nuestro, como estas bonitas botellas de soda / Am Sonntag machten wir unseren obligatorischen Besuch des Flohmarkts der Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo. Es wimmelte nur so vor Leuten, viele Touristen natuerlich. Aber es gab wirklich viele schoene Sachen, wie diese Sodaflaschen, die wir aber dann doch wegen zu sperrig stehen liessen / On Sunday we made the obligatory visit to the fleamarket of Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo. It was absolutely buzzing with people, of course also many tourists. But there we really many nice objects, like these soda fountains, which we had trouble not to buy, but the format ist just not very handy for travelling.

 

Un antiguo teatro fue convertido en libreria por la cadena de librerias El Ateneo de Buenos Aires, y consiguieron este maravilloso espectaculo. Unos meses despues descubrimos que habia sido incluida como una de las tres librerias mas bonitas del mundo por una revista europea. Buenos Aires es una ciudad llena de librerias, de todos los tamaños y especialidades, y algunas no cierran en toda la noche, como las de la calle Corrientes / Ein ehemaliges Theater wurde in diese wunderschoene Buchhandlung, El Ateneo, umgewandelt. Ein paar Monate vorher wurde diese Buchhandlung in einer europaeischen Zeitschrift als eine der drei schoensten Buchhandlungen der Welt gelobt. In Buenos Aires wimmelt es von Buchhandlungen, in allen Groessen und Fachrichtungen. In der Strasse Corrientes haben sie sogar die ganze Nacht auf. Aber diese ist die beindruckendste / A former theater was transformed in this beautiful bookstore, el Ateneo. Buenos Aires is full of bookstores, in all sizes and specialties. Those of the street Corrientes are even open all night. But this one seemed to us the most impressive one.

 

Gabi nos invito una tarde a un asado en su casa con algunos familiares y amigos. Tambien vino Mariana con su hija Natalia y Pablo, su compañero, con quienes nos encontrariamos de nuevo, unos meses mas tarde, en Mexico DF / Einen Abend lud uns Gabi zum Grillen mit ihren Freunden ein, wo wir auch Mariana wiedertrafen und ihre Tochter Natalia und Freund Pablo kennenlernten, bei denen wir spaeter in Mexico City wohnten / One night Gabi invited us for a barbecue with her friends. Mariana came as well and we met her daughter Natalia and partner Pablo, with whom we stayed later in Mexico City.
