Aber wir konnten uns dort mit leckeren argentinischen Weinen ausstatten / We stayed one night in Mendoza to relax from the thirty hour bus ride from Comodoro Rivadavia and to sample some Argentinian wine. After the good souvenir of our wine tour in New Zealand, we wanted to visit the wineries in Maipu, a village next to Mendoza, as well by bike and that way savour the famous Malbec red wine. But we had to conclude that trying this on your own didn’t work out. First we missed the right bus stop, then the tourist office of Maipu sent us to a closed bike rent out. Then we didn’t have change for taking the bus, didn’t even find a taxi in the village. Finally the father of a nice woman in a store there drove us to the big winery Bodega Lopez, where we participated in a tour through the winery and its production and a quite limited wine tasting. We missed the generosity in New Zealand, where you could try for free the whole program. But of course we ended well equipped with delicious local wines.

Mit ihr, hier im Bild, feierten wir im grossen Familien- und Freundeskreis ihren runden Geburtstag / Next station was San Juan, where we visited our friend Cristina, here in the picture, and celebrated her round birthday in company of the whole family and friends.

“Vicky Cristina San Juan“, y no Barcelona... / Next to a lake near San Juan we passed a lovely evening, obviously including an „asado“. Barbecue is part of any party in Argentina. It already makes my mouth water just thinking about the tender meet and choripanes, sausages in buns. Next to Cristina you see her friend Vicky, who we already closed into our heart during our first visit four years before. Vicky Cristina San Juan, and not Barcelona...

Neben Mauricio sitzt seine Frau Rosa / Christmas we spent in company of Cris and her family, a marvellous evening and the first time Christmas sitting outside in the garden! The photo gathers the three brothers and sisters, Cris, Alejandra and Mauricio. Next to Mauricio sits his wife Rosa.

We were already looking forward to return to the farm in the country side of Cristinas family in Tamberias, to be absolutely in the country side, below the winegrapes, next to the tomato field, the snow covered Andean mountains in the background, other lower mountains in all possible colours around and by night an uncomparable sky full off stars.

Other fields nearby and a thunder storm gathering

We didn’t play with photoshop here, the light really was incredible.

Von links nach rechts: Conrado, Cristina, Ricardo, Maximo, Italo und Alejandra / Fromout the finca we made an excursion to one of the world famous observatories and a region called “el leoncito”, which is absolutely flat with a loamy soil and very apt for car racings. Through the absolute dryness on this side of the Andes and very little population, the sky is especially clear by night and invites for observing the stars. From left to right: Conrado, Cristina, Ricardo, Maximo, Italo and Alejandra.
